Immersive Fly Fishing Mentorship
A seasonal, high-touch private program designed for women who want to actually learn the art and science of fly fishing, not just go on guided trips.
This is not guided fishing trips, it’s a progressive skill development mentorship built around your schedule and your goals.
Like working with a private instructor in any discipline, we meet consistently over the course of a season—building skill, confidence, and fluency step by step. This mentorship is for you if you value private instruction (yoga, pilates, strength training, sport), you live or spend extended time in the Bozeman, Big Sky, or Paradise Valley areas, you want to become self-sufficient on the water, and you’re willing to invest time and attention into learning a skill deeply.
The Mentorship Program
Sessions take place at your home or property (if applicable) or at a convenient public meeting space. Aquila mentorship clients often include homeowners, seasonal residents, and individuals with private water access who want a more meaningful and self-directed relationship with fly fishing.
Each session is customized, and includes comprehensive education on gear and equipment, fly rod anatomy, technique, strategy, trout habitat and behavior, observation, physical preparation, mindset management, mindfulness integration, stewardship, ethics, and conservation considerations.
By the end of the mentorship, you will have the skills to:
Fish independently and confidently
Understand how to read water and conditions
Know how to rig, select flies, and adapt
Feel at home and confident in the environments you spend time in
Private mentorship begins at $1,200/month with a 3-month commitment.
Most clients invest between $2,000–$4,000/month depending on frequency and level of support.
Limited to a small number of private clients each season.
About Your Mentor
Aquila was founded by Lindsay Kocka, an educator, guide, and movement specialist with a multidisciplinary approach to teaching fly fishing.
Over the past decade, Lindsay has worked with hundreds of women through fly fishing schools, retreats, and private mentorship, helping clients move beyond one-time experiences and into long-term skill development and confidence on the water.
Her background extends beyond fly fishing. With over 15 years of experience as a yoga teacher and mobility and recovery specialist, Lindsay brings a deeper understanding of how the body learns, adapts, and performs. This perspective informs a more thoughtful, efficient, and sustainable approach to building skill—one that integrates movement, awareness, and environment.
In 2020, she completed guide training through Sweetwater’s Women’s Fly Fishing Guide School and has since developed the Wade Well Method, a framework designed to support longevity, resilience, and physical preparedness for anglers. This integrated approach is what defines Aquila’s mentorship model: not just learning to fish, but developing the awareness, skillset, and relationship to place that allows you to participate fully and independently.
